All You Need To Know About Fee Reimbursement Scheme

Now that EAMCET web counselling is around the corner, I thought I’d do a post on the “Fee Reimbursement Scheme” as there are very few articles over web explaining eligibility and other criterion. What also made me write this post is the fact that there have been 100’s of comments till now asking me to clarify on certain matters. So, here it is finally.

About Fee Reimbursement Scheme:

Fee Reimbursement Scheme was introduced in the state of Andhra Pradesh (Now Andhra PradeshYSR_Image and Telangana) in the year of 2010 by Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy of the then ruling party Indian National Congress. It was because of the introduction of this scheme, lakhs of Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Backward Class (BC), Economically Backward Class (EBC), Minorities and Physically Challenged students benefited from the scheme. While in the initial years of the scheme, the fee reimbursement for professional courses like engineering was 52,000/- INR and 10,000/- INR for degree based courses. Due to tons of applications in the cycle of 2012-13, the proposed budget for this scheme wasn’t sufficient and thus the fee reimbursement rates were revised to 35,000/- INR for professional courses like engineering.

Post Matric Scholarship and Fee Reimbursement:

The Scheme of Post Matric Scholarship includes

i. Reimbursement of Tuition Fee (RTF) payable to colleges

ii. Maintenance Charges payable to the Students (MTF).

Tuition fee includes all fees which are nonrefundable as fixed by the university or authority constituted for the purpose by the State Government. Maintenance fees (MTF) shall be paid as per the course wise prescribed rates.

Yes, Fee Reimbursement is a part of Post Matric Scholarship. While the former is paid to colleges directly, the later is sent into bank accounts of students.

Fee Reimbursement Scheme

Which candidates are eligible for Fee Reimbursement Scheme?

  1. All students admitted by the Convenor as notified by the Government, under the Quota meant for the Convenor, are eligible for the Fee Reimbursement Scheme (vis-a-vis PMS scheme). However, Students admitted under management quota or through spot admissions i.e., left over seats of the Convenor quota filled by managements subsequently, will not be eligible for the PMS Scheme. In respect of Medical Colleges, the PMS scheme will also be applicable to the “B” category only in respect of SC and ST students.
  2. Also, the student’s admitted into colleges by means of ‘B’ Category and NRI Quota are not eligible for the Fee Reimbursement Scheme.
  3. The Fee Reimbursement Scheme (vis-a-vis PMS Scheme) shall be available to all eligible students among the OC/SC/ST/BC/EBC/Minority/Physically Challenged communities to pursue higher studies. The scheme applies to all universities & its affiliated colleges whose admission process is regulated/administered by the State Government.
  4. Under the Saturation basis, all eligible students who belong to OC/BC/EBC/Minority/PH and whose family income is less than Rupees One Lakh per annum (1,00,000/- INR from all sources) shall be covered under this scheme.
  5. Under the saturation basis, all the eligible students who belong to SC/ST and whose family income is less than Rupees Two Lakh per annum (2,00,000/- INR from all sources) shall be covered under this scheme.

What do you need for Fee Reimbursement Scheme?

  • Income Certificate issued via MeeSeva is essential to apply for the Fee Reimbursement Scheme. The income certificate has a validity of only one year from the date of issue. So, the recently procured income certificate with falls within the time frame as specified during the rules is essential. The expired income certificates are not accepted for the Fee Reimbursement Scheme.

When do you need to produce Income Certificate?

  • You need to produce the Income Certificate (which satisfies criterion as given above) at the time of Certificate Verification

Where do you apply for Fee Reimbursement Scheme?

As soon as you get enrolled into college, the corresponding dates are released for applying. You can apply it online via ePASS portals of your corresponding states. Below are the links for the portals:

What happens after applying online?

After applying online, you need to submit all the hard copies of the documents to your college. The college then processes your application online. They also verify your Aadhar number by means of Biometric Fingerprint verification. The college then forwards the hard copies to the District Welfare Officer. The District Welfare Officer checks your application and if everything is in order, the scholarship is sanctioned. It takes some time for the amount to get remitted into your bank account as the district welfare officer has to send bills to treasury and forward checks to your corresponding bank branches.

      Hi! Sathyanarayana Reddy

As per previous guidelines, the income limit was set at 1 Lakh per annum. There have been talks to increase the income ceiling to 2 Lakh per annum in Urban areas but any such G.O is yet to be released. I ask you to contact help line centres for clarification on that front. Hope that my answer was helpful. If it wasn’t reply here and we’ll get back to you ASAP. Thanks for visiting our site.

      Hi! Lingaiah

If you are not interested in Fee Reimbursement, don’t apply for Fee Reimbursement at ePASS and pay full fee to college. Hope that my answer was helpful. If it wasn’t reply here and we’ll get back to you ASAP. Thanks for visiting our site.

    Hello Sir,
A minority student from Kadapa got admission in MBBS ( Shadaan Medical college ), her rank was 1500 and she got seat under govt quota 2016-17.
She is from poor family and her father is a small Tailor, she is looking for scholarship for help.
Do you know if this scholarship is available in Andhra for the students who are from AP but studying in Telangana?
Please let me know if you know any details about this.

      Hi! Sadulla

Thank you for visiting our site. We congratulate on her rank and wish her luck. I am sure she has applied for Fee Reimbursement so, some portion of her fees should be covered there. Coming to remaining fee, I would urge you to please visit college principal once on this regard. Colleges generally have private donors/alumni who fund fees of meritorious students and I think she is qualified for such scholarships if any are provided at the college. If there is none, you can always ask the principal for fee waiver.

Please also do contact Telangana State Minorities Finance Corporation once to check once if they have any other schemes through which they can support you. Lastly, you can always be on look out for any private scholarships by tracking regular updates on various websites.

If you don’t find any other option, you can always opt for an education loan at any public sector banks at feasible rates. I’m sure once she passes out, she can repay the loan in a couple of years with a profession like doctor. Hope that my answer was helpful. If it wasn’t reply here and we’ll get back to you ASAP. Thanks for visiting our site.
